Certificate III in Aviation (Remote Pilot) incorporating RePL

AVI30419 Certificate III in Aviation

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course will suit you if:

You conduct or are planning to conduct drone related activities in your workplace and where a CASA RePL is a requirement or for risk mitigation purposes.

What you need to know:

This qualification would suit you if you are operating Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS)

  • Within Visual Line Of Sight (VLOS)

  • Below 400 feet Above Ground Level (AGL)

  • In day Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC)

  • Outside of controlled airspace

  • Greater than 3 nautical miles from an aerodrome

  • Outside of populous areas

Remote pilot duties include applying both technical and non-technical aviation skills and knowledge within RPAS operational environments.

The material provided by this course has been approved by CASA to cover the necessary requirements for a Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) as outlined in the Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) part 101, division 101.F.3 – Remote Pilot Licences.

Upon successful completion of the Skills Generation version of the AVI30419 Certificate III in Aviation – Remote Pilot course, you will be eligible to sit for the CASA approved multiple-choice theory assessments for the Remote Pilots Licence (RePL) and optionally for the Aeronautical Radio Operators Certificate (AROC). Both of these assessments are provided by Skills Generation at the end of your course. Note: for the AROC certification additional costs may apply and students must be 17 or older.

There is a maximum 12 month duration allotted for this course but typically, as detail theory is completed online, most students will complete it sooner.

How can I do the course:

Students will undertake the online theory, learning and assessment for the Certificate III which includes all the learning material required for the CASA RePL and AROC assessments. For the RePL, CASA requires that all students must also have a minimum of 15 hours face to face theory with an instructor, this will be provided through web based video conferencing during the course. The practical assessments will be conducted face to face at locations listed below after students have verified and logged a minimum 5 hours flight time. At the beginning of the Practical Assessment students will sit the CASA approved RePL multiple choice theory assessment.
